The highly anticipated U.S. debut of immersive experiences based on ONE PIECE and Jujutsu Kaisen—originally launched at Universal Studios Japan (USJ)—has officially begun with the limited-time event “UNIVERSAL FAN FEST NIGHTS”, which opened on April 25, 2025 (local time) at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, California.
This marks the first time that the Japan-born experiences are being brought stateside. Inspired by the success of USJ’s “Universal Cool Japan” initiative—which showcases Japan’s top entertainment brands in ultra-realistic attractions—UNIVERSAL FAN FEST NIGHTS will run on weekend evenings through May 18 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Fans can fully immerse themselves in the world of these anime blockbusters through exclusive character greetings, wildly popular theatrical show attractions, and exclusive merchandise and themed food—some directly imported from the hit experiences at USJ. It’s an event designed to bring fans together from around the world.
One of the main highlights is the ONE PIECE experience, where a pirate-themed area brought the world of the anime to life, complete with flags waving and fans dressed in cosplay. The event’s character greeting, “ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Gathering,” featured live appearances by the beloved Straw Hat Pirates—Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. The crowd erupted with excitement, taking photos and celebrating together as the entire area transformed into a lively pirate village.
Also making its U.S. debut is the Jujutsu Kaisen attraction—an immersive theater show that originally premiered at USJ in 2022 to critical acclaim. “Jujutsu Kaisen at UNIVERSAL FAN FEST NIGHTS” combines a USJ-original storyline with cutting-edge visuals, special effects like water sprays and seat vibrations, and heart-pounding action. The battle between sorcerers and curses plays out in front of guests in a way that brings the anime’s world vividly to life. Until now, this attraction was exclusive to Japan, but for a limited time, fans in the U.S. can experience it firsthand.
Meanwhile, back in Japan, USJ has announced the return of its annual summer event, “ONE PIECE Premier Summer 2025,” which will run from July 1 to October 6. The centerpiece, “ONE PIECE Premier Show 2025,” is a live-action extravaganza featuring spectacular battles and emotional story moments. This year’s show will star Luffy and even feature Buggy the Clown, now one of the Four Emperors.
Other highlights include “Sanji’s Pirate Restaurant,” an immersive dining experience hosted by the Straw Hats’ cook, and “ONE PIECE Story Ride,” a high-thrill coaster that plunges guests into the story alongside Luffy and Usopp.
In 2025, USJ’s “Universal Cool Japan” initiative also celebrates its 10th anniversary. Throughout the year, the event delivers full-body, ultra-immersive encounters with some of Japan’s most iconic franchises. Currently running through June 30 are two limited-time attractions: a mystery experience based on Keigo Higashino’s Masquerade novel series, and “Detective Conan World,” which lets fans solve mysteries alongside Conan himself.
Looking ahead, USJ is preparing to unveil new details about an attraction based on The Apothecary Diaries, and will reintroduce SPY×FAMILY to the park with the world’s first SPY×FAMILY XR Ride, a VR roller coaster two years in the making since its debut in 2023.
